English Teacher
During my time in Guangzhou (2011-14) I taught private classes in a home
environment. Age 4-6kindergarten students a few times a week. These small
classes needed to be taught enthusiastically in order to keep the students
attention, and also tomake learning English a fun experience. I used many
activities to reinforce target language for each lesson. I like to think the
lessons became something the kidswould look forwardto each week.
English Teacher
I taught at Hu Jin Chao Vocational school in Shunde, Guangdongbetween
2008-11. These were large classes with 50 to 60students in each, aged between
15 to 18 years old. Levels varied from classes with English majors, to classes
with business majors. Being the only foreign teacher at the school it was my
responsibility to try and keep students motivated and interested in learning
English. From my experience I cameup with a range of activities that work
well in large classes so that students are complementing their learning with
fun.Apart from the activities and teaching plans, I’m continually improving
and innovating my classes, creating more interesting ways to motivate
students. Ialso taught adults at night, and primary school students (5-14) at
the weekend.
