2004- 2009 Mathematics Teacher St. Augustine’s High School, Ghana
I was responsible for the taking students in the second year of their high school mathematics program in basic mathematics topics such as Algebra I Course, Geometry Course, Algebra II Course, Trigonometry Course and Pre-Calculus Course. The synopses of topics are as follows:
Algebra I Course: In this course I helped students to apply the algebra skills they have been learning to real life situations.
Geometry Course: In this course I helped students to build on concepts of symmetry, shape, and relations and learn to use tools, formulas, and theorems to determine dimensions, angles, volumes, and surface area
Algebra II Course: In this course I helped students to build upon concepts from their earlier algebra study, broadening their understanding of functions, probability, matrices, graphing, sequences and series. Students solve equations, analyze and graph data, and learn and use theorems. Algebra II students learn concepts through lessons and practice.
Trigonometry Course: In this course I helped students to learn to compute the sides of a triangle from the dimension of only one side and two angles. The student is helped to use sine, cosine, and tangent to find the measures of a triangle. Students also learn vectors and vector operations
Pre-Calculus Course: In this course I helped students to extend what they know about finding the slope of a line and use that information to find the curve of a line, something that can't be computed simply by using algebra and geometry.
